ABSTRACT
Managing type 2 diabetes (T2D) effectively is a considerable challenge. The Appraisal of Diabetes Scale (ADS) has proven valuable in understanding how individuals perceive and cope with their condition. This study aimed to evaluate the psychometric properties Slovenian version ADS (ADS-S). We recruited sample 400 adult T2D from three primary healthcare centers Slovenia, ensuring an average 57 cases per individual item. evaluation included internal consistency, test-retest reliability, construct validity, discriminant validity. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was additionally performed fit one- two-factor models. After excluding incomplete questionnaires, 389 participated, averaging 72.0±7.5 years, 196 men 193 women. ADS-S exhibited acceptable consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.70) strong reliability (interclass correlation 0.88, p <0.001). Criterion validity established through significant correlations between score EQ-5D utility (r -0.34, <0.001), EQ-VAS -0.38, HbA1c >7.5% 0.22, 0.019). Discriminant assessment found no age, but female gender 0.17, 0.001). CFA results supported structure (psychological impact sense self-control) over one-factor structure, as indicated by model indicators. stands valid reliable tool for assessing psychological self-control patients. Future research should explore adding items capturing secondary appraisal studying influence on scores.
