Coming to our senses: Revisiting the haptic as a perceptual system

ABSTRACT
The article responds to current calls by art educators expand consideration of the senses beyond visual. Revisiting haptic is necessary in order understand recent, especially feminist, art. Reconceptualizing because carries baggage from past uses concept that are deeply problematic. These include proposal historians constitutes an artistic drive comparable, though inferior, a visual drive, and represents favoured personality type. problematic proposals outlined demarcate them reconceptualization draws upon recent theorizing psychology about perceptual systems as well phenomenological philosophy, feminist theory women's practice.
