ABSTRACT
Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the effects of lavender ( Lavandula angustifolia) essence on growth performance, carcass characteristics, blood parameters and caecal microflora broiler chickens. Six experimental diets were formulated include different levels as follows: 0 (control), 100, 200, 400, 600 800 mg/kg, respectively. A total 300 1-day-old male chicks (Ross-308 strain) randomly allocated treatment groups (5 replicates with 10 birds each). Diets fed mash form in both starter (1–21 days) grower-finisher (22–42 periods. From findings, no differences among treatments observed for body weight (BW) gain, feed intake (FI), conversion ratio (FCR) considering entire feeding period (1–42 days). Birds given 400 mg/kg had lower (P < 0.05) carcass, breast, thigh, wings, neck gizzard weights than from other groups. With exception serum glucose level, which significantly decreased groups, there > protein, cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density (LDL) uric acid treatments. Broilers counts Lactobacillus spp. others E. coli Coliforms lavender. Therefore, based current study, it can be concluded that successfully used antibacterial agent without any detrimental effect performance.
