ABSTRACT
Purpose The purpose of this study is to compare the radiologic and clinical results syndesmotic screw fixation posterior malleolar for injury in Lauge-Hansen classification pronation-external rotation (PER) stage IV ankle fractures with malleolus fracture. Materials Methods We designed a retrospective that included patients PER fracture Of 723 who underwent surgery from March 2005 November 2012, 29 were study. In study, was treated or fixation. There 15 cases 14 compared at one year postoperatively. Posterior fragment size on pre-operative computed tomographic image, tibiofibular overlap, medial clear space, articular step-off, Kellgren-Lawrence grade, Takakura postoperative followup radiograph used comparison results. assessed using American Orthopaedic Foot Ankle Society score, visual analogue scale patient subjective satisfaction score. Results 12.62%±3.01% joint space group 27.04%±4.34% group. A statistical difference observed between two groups. However, other results, including classification, scores showed no difference. Conclusion fracture, if can be reduced anatomically fixated rigidly, fixation, which cause several complications, usually not required achievement satisfactory stability; would recommendable option treatment injury.
