ABSTRACT
Background and Aim: Basil is well known as a medicinal plant that contains high essential oils antioxidant compounds have the potential to improve ovarian development. Thus, basil may growth development of uterus placenta for optimal prenatal offspring. This study aimed evaluate effect Indonesian maceration on gonad mature female albino rats. Materials Methods: Fifteen 8-week-old Sprague-Dawley rats, at diestrus stage estrus cycle, were divided into three different treatment groups: Control group (mineral water), bas-low (1% maceration), bas-high (5% maceration). was dissolved administered in mineral drinking water, treatments given 20 days (4 cycles). At end period, serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), estradiol, progesterone (Pg) measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The relative weight ovary uterus; diameter length uterine cornual; vascularization glands; number primary, secondary, tertiary de Graaf follicles; corpora luteum; expression vascular endothelial factor (VEGF) determined. Results: There no significant difference (p>0.05) FSH level rats treated with water doses 1% 5% compared control group. However, estradiol Pg concentrations groups significantly higher (p<0.05) than those Furthermore, increased uterus's weight, diameter, vascularization. Serum contributed elevated VEGF Pg. Conclusion: Administration before mating could follicle development, eventually increasing synthesis secretion, thus improving preparation implantation. makes an attractive candidate clinical research enhance placenta, which will better support optimum embryos fetuses, resulting superior
