ABSTRACT
Background and Aim: Slaughterhouses their effluents could serve as a "hotspot" for the occurrence distribution of antibiotic-resistant bacteria in environment. This study aimed to understand tetracycline resistance genes Escherichia coli isolated from floor surface effluent samples pig slaughterhouses Banten Province, Indonesia. Materials Methods: Ten samples, each swabs effluents, were collected 10 Province. strains identified by referring protocol Global Tricycle Surveillance extended-spectrum beta-lactamase E. WHO (2021). Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was used detect tet genes. Results: The tetA, tetB, tetC, tetM, tetO, tetX distributed isolates tetE, samples. tetO gene (60%) most dominant while tetA one (50%). + combination pattern (15%) isolates. Conclusion: high prevalence diversity Province indicated that transmission had occurred pigs environment; thus, this situation should be considered serious threat public health. Keywords: effluent, coli, slaughterhouse, gene, resistance.
