Gastronomy as a motivation for travel: A study of gastronomic tourism in the city of João Pessoa-PB

ABSTRACT
Since the Italian Renaissance, and with other tourism segments, culture continues to be one main motivations for travel. Gastronomic tourism, as a facet of cultural that brings authenticity experience, is niche has emerged motivation in choice destination by new tourist profiles. Given João Pessoa city, aim this work was identify whether gastronomic plays an important role attracting tourists city. Bibliographic documentary research carried out, using quantitative approach data analysis. As collection instrument, survey used, interviewing sixty-six person, September 2019. The results show highest percentage interviewed 60 years age or older, motivated leisure regards interest related experience/gastronomic it found not visiting Pessoa; however, there desire try local gastronomy. In context, need managers enterprises, those responsible publicizing Pessoa, focus on associating potential strategy destination.
