ABSTRACT
BACKGROUND:The magnitude of Road traffic incidents and fatalities in India is alarming.In 2009, 4.22 lakh road 1.27 were reported.These numbers translate into one accident every minute death four minutes METHODS: The study (based on Jorgensen Abane model, 1999) was conducted over a period year during April 2011 to March 2012, among 136 victims (including 33 drivers) coming Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali government medical college, Srinagar, Garhwal.RESULTS: including drivers interviewed who brought the causality aforesaid period.23 people dead.There clustering cases from month August October when compared other months year.40% drunk/or using some substance at time accident.Only 12.1% seat belts accident.57.6% having driving license 54.5% either refractive error or hearing impairment both.Human error, High speed, Lack sleep, effect Alcohol mechanical fault vehicle reasons as told by CONCLUSIONS: During there cases.This coincides with "Char Dham Yatra" rainy season both.Special efforts should be done this period.Strong vigilance for
