ABSTRACT
BACKGROUNDObstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) is a disorder of most serious form among the disordered breathing, which has become highly prevalent and negatively affects quality life.Its prevalence globally reported to be ≥ 4% men 2% women mostly obese individuals.Asymptomatic OSA also been independently associated with an increased morbidity mortality.Hence, it becomes prime concern for health care personnel diagnose at earliest.Among various screening tools available Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), proved accurate.Thus, this study was taken up assess in Odisha population using Scale. MATERIALS AND METHODSA total no. 1012 subjects were selected random sampling technique from community camps study.The asked fill questionnaire Scale.All respondents precisely briefed about face-to-face interview.The data obtained survey subjected statistics descriptive analysis done. RESULTSESS score found highest age group above 70 (18.8%)followed by 50 -59 (17.7%).ESS 40 -49 years' 13% 11.4% years.ESS least 60 -69 years (10.8%).Gender-wise distribution based on ESS seen males (14.2%) females showed 11.7%. CONCLUSIONThis first epidemiological done identifying higher age.OSA comparison females.
