ABSTRACT
Background : Diarrhoea is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity. Diarrhoeal disease kills 1.5 million children every year. Globally, there are about two billion cases diarrhoeal Methods The cross sectional survey was conducted over a period six months among 392 mothers who were suffering from diarrhea or had episode within weeks date interview urban field practicing areas department community medicine, Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali government medical college, Srinagar, Garhwal. Results Out respondents only 168 (43%) gave ORS to children. Only 28(7.1%) given Zn tablets. Correct method preparation sugar salt solution at home not known most mothers. 73% believed that frequency feeding must be decreased time episode. Conclusions study shows gap in required knowledge, attitudes practices regarding acute diseases caregivers. It demands concerted efforts various departments for positive behavior change.
