ABSTRACT
Objective: to evaluate the frequency of bone alterations in temporomandibular joints (TMJ) cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images, with dental implats planning purpose. Material and Methods: 148 exames were selected from file Radiology Clinic ICT UNESP. All images performed by Next Generation i-CAT (Imaging Sciences Ltda, Hatfield, PA, USA) scanner, using voxel 0.20/0.25 mm FOV 16.0 x 13.0 cm for implants planning. should show both (rigth left) TMJ condyle. The condyle reformated protocol, parassagital slices, perpendicular long axis condyle, order study presence following alterations: osteophytes, erosion, flatenning, sclerosis cortical thinning. Results: results showed that 63.51% sample belonged female 36.49% male. In addition, it was noted most frequent osteophytes (56.75%) flatening (55.4%). erosion alteration lower (0,67%). statistic test Mcnemar there relationship between sclerosis, thinning, thinning (p<0.0001), sides. There no (p>0.01). Conclusion: hight findings an indicator importance analysis all structures present CBCT FOV, regardless its indication.
