ABSTRACT
One of the major disadvantages sunflower cultivation is increased plant height, making it prone to lodging. The use growth retardants can be an alternative strategy reduce height; however, these compounds may affect productivity. aim this study was evaluate effects on development and yield. Four treatments were studied: 1- control; 2- gibberellic acid (GA) 10 mg L−1; 3- trinexapac-ethyl (TE) 5 mL L−1, 4- maleic hidrazide (MH) 8 L−1. TE MH decreased height (16.9 35.9%, respectively); only positively influenced capitulim diameter dry mass (46.7 311%, when compared control) at 60 days after planting (DAP). At 81 DAP, capitulum did not differ among control TE-treated plants. On other hand, impaired (92.9 74.7%, respectively). It concluded that application a potential decrease lodging probability without affecting Furthermore, although negatively affected development, its crop cannot excluded since doses, frequencies moment studied.
