The purpose of study was to comparatively assess the incidence metabolic syndrome (MS) diagnosed by NCEP A TP III (2002) and IDF (2005) criteria in menopausal women. case-control included 849 normal-weight, overweight, obese females. Their anthropometric characteristics, glucose levels, lipid parameters were estimated. In overweight women, MS significantly more frequently than ATP ones (z 2 = 9.283; p 0.002). No differences found cardiovascular diseases. It has been concluded that women allows a larger number individuals at increased risk be identified criteria.
