ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Background:
Facet osteosynthesis can be performed to treat facet syndrome (FS) and reduce spinal instability following laminectomy in patients with lumbar stenosis (LSS). The present study evaluated clinical radiological outcomes the FFX device.
Methods:
Patients FS or LSS were prospectively enrolled a single-arm, multicenter study. device was placed at affected levels without concomitant posterior interbody fusion (PLIF) procedures. visual analog scale (VAS) for back leg pain Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) preoperatively postoperatively. Computed tomography scans assess migration 1 year surgery.
Results:
Fifty-three (26 men/27 women) mean age of 65.0 ± 9.6 years (range: 37–83 years) enrolled. A total 205 devices implanted 15 undergoing concurrent PLIF There no intraoperative postoperative surgical complication reported, patient required revision Mean VAS scores significantly improved from 5.57 2.09 (P < .001) 5.74 3.13 .001), respectively, between preoperative follow-up assessments. ODI also 44.7% 24.0% during same time period. occurred 86.3% placements after 12 months. (0.5%) asymptomatic migration. Eight (3.9%) considered misplaced.
Conclusions:
use is associated significant reduction both disability surgery high joint rate.
Level Evidence:
4.
Clinical Relevance:
This first reporting experience using facilitate osteosynthesis. ability relieve pain, disability, enhance low rate misplacement demonstrated.
