ABSTRACT
A growing population needs an expansion of agriculture to ensure a reliable supply nutritious food. As variable concept, vertical farming, becoming increasingly popular, can allow plant growth for local food production in the sense on, e.g. facades addition classical layered structure buildings. substrates, textile fabrics be used as sustainable approach terms reusability. In our experiment, we investigated which properties should possess order suitable application farming by example cress seeds. To determine best-fitted fabric, four different textiles were mounted vertically, and provided with controlled irrigation illumination. Our results showed that hairy surface weft-knitted plush is advantageous. There, rooting plants this experiment easier less complicated than along tightly meshed, flat surfaces, woven linen fabrics.
