ABSTRACT
The widespread adoption of direct-seeded rice cultivation over traditional puddled transplanted has become necessary due to labor shortages and water scarcity. Amidst several biotic abiotic challenges faced by direct seeded cultivation, weeds remain as a major bottleneck which negatively influences the performance crop. Chemical method weed control is one most economical ways compared other management techniques. Development lines are resistant new classes broad-spectrum herbicides have paved way introduce them into cultivation. In this study, herbicide-tolerant mutant named Robin-HTM, developed at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University tolerance imazethapyr, was used donor parent introgress herbicide tolerant popular variety ADT 43. Initial evaluation with done parents alone subsequent in advance backcross progenies 43 x HTM cross. promising perform better than recurrent selected forwarded through backcrossing. Weed related parameters were also calculated understand dynamics present efficiency used.
