ABSTRACT
Rationale: The diagnostic yield of traditional ultrasound-guided pleural biopsy remains unsatisfactory, particularly when the thickness is ⩽5 mm and/or no nodules are detected. Pleural ultrasound elastography (UE) has a better than for malignant effusion (MPE). However, studies on UE-guided biopsies lacking. Objectives: To evaluate feasibility and safety biopsy. Methods: In this multicenter prospective single-arm trial, patients with whose was were enrolled between July 2019 August 2021. its sensitivity detecting MPE evaluated. Results: Ninety-eight (mean age, 62.4 ± 13.2 yr; 65 men) prospectively enrolled. making any diagnosis 92.9% (91/98), 88.7% (55/62). addition, tuberculosis 69.6% (16/23). rate postoperative chest pain acceptable, there pneumothorax. Conclusions: novel technique diagnosing good sensitivity. Clinical trial registered https://www.chictr.org.cn (ChiCTR2000033572).
