ABSTRACT
Abstract This article presents a series of recommendations for the publication archaeological data, to improve their usability. These 12 were formulated by data experts who mined thousands publications different types (including funerary practices, accelerator mass spectrometry dating, stable isotopes, zooarchaeology, archaeobotany and pathologies) during initial construction Big Interdisciplinary Archaeological Database (BIAD). We also include harmonisation vocabularies utilised integration from recording systems. The case studies we cite illustrate are grounded in examples published literature presented problem/solution format. Though practically oriented towards facilitation efficient databasing, these – which refer as BIAD Standards broadly applicable those want extract scientific information, work with specific region or theoretical focus journal editors manuscript authors. anticipate that use will increase usability, visibility, interoperability longevity citations mined. help frame unified foundation support continued natural sciences research future.
