ABSTRACT
Abstract Geraniol has been an attractive compound for food preservation due to its antibacterial and antifungal actions. The main objective of this study was produce characterize polycaprolactone (PCL) capsules the protection encapsulated geraniol essential oil. encapsulation carried out using a miniemulsion polymerization technique with efficiency (95.44 ± 0.60%). were obtained mean size 148 nm polydispersity index 0.12. Transmission electron microscopy results confirmed formation spherical PCL coating geraniol. From analysis thermogravimetry, it possible prove thermal by since release occurred temperatures 100 °C higher than volatilization temperature natural compound. An important observation that microcapsules PCL-geraniol immersed in aqueous suspensions at 4 showed good stability over 60 days.
