ABSTRACT
Abstract The use of precast pier segments is an integral part many accelerated bridge construction efforts. To effectively compensate for the adverse effect caused by concrete discontinuity between segments, replacing conventional rebar with high-strength steel (HSS) can be alternative to this issue. However, primary interest in design practice how evaluate seismic performance piers different strength. end, a evaluation method based on four characterized resilience parameters was developed, which related energy consumption, stiffness degradation, residual displacement, and drift capacity. According physical significance parameters, their desired expectations were expounded. In order investigate impact strength, experimental program two conducted, hysteretic curves obtained. By comparatively analyzing envelope piers, calculated evaluated. It conclusively showed that HSS better than one at large. proposed effective tool piers.
