ABSTRACT
The Spatial-Numerical Association of Response Codes (SNARC) effect – i.e., faster responses to small numbers with the left compared right side and large suggests that are associated space. However, it remains unclear whether SNARC evolves from a number’s magnitude or ordinal position number in working memory. One problem is that, different paradigms, task demands influence role ordinality magnitude. While single-task setups which participants judge parity displayed indicate importance for effect, evidence influences usually comes experiments where sequences have be memorized possess pre-existing knowledge stimuli. Therefore, this preregistered study, we employed without secondary sequence memorization. We dissociate accounts by carefully manipulating experimental stimulus sets. results even though model better observed data, seems matter as well. Hence, space both magnitude- an order-respective manner, yielding mixture compatibility effects. Moreover, multiple coding framework may most accurately explain roots effect.
