ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study was to develop an analytical method for the simultaneous determination inorganic arsenic [As(III) and As(V)] monomethylarsonic acid (MMA) in urine by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) biological monitoring exposure arsenic.Arsenic compounds (after reduction trivalent state) were derivatized with 2,3-dimercapto-1-propanol then analyzed using a GC-MS. proposed validated according US Food Drug Administration guidelines. accuracy confirmed analyzing Standard Reference Material (SRM) 2669 (National Institute Standards Technology).Calibration curves showed linearity range 1-100 μg/l each species, correlation coefficients >0.999. For limits detection quantification 0.2 1 μg/l, respectively. recoveries 96-100%, 99-102% 99-112% As(III), As(V) MMA, Intraday precision 82.7-99.8% 0.9-7.4%, Interday 81.3-100.0% 0.8-9.9%, values SRM obtained sufficiently accurate. The overcame disadvantages high-performance liquid chromatography inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. It robust, selective cost-effective suitable routine analyses could be useful occupational arsenic.
