Overview of Brazilian industrial radiography accidents with cutaneous radiation syndrome

Many of industrial radiological accidents are related to gamma radiography, which makes this practice the highest potential risk for human health. More than 80 occurred in world that includes 6 Brazilian with Cutaneous Radiation Syndrome. From 1985 2000 five happened 192Ir and one 60Co radioactives sources. Nineteen members public 8 radiographers were involved. All them suffered severe hands fingers injuries. analyzed showing main causes, consequences workers, estimated radiation doses lessons learned. This paper describes a detailed summary each accident radiography Brazil.
