The Use of Reductants in Oxidation Degumming of Ramie

ABSTRACT
When ramie fiber was extracted by oxidation degumming, large amount of hydroxyl groups were converted to carboxyl and aldehydes groups.This would do great damage tensile properties fiber, for the hydrogen bonds among much weaker than ones groups.In this study, degumming improved reducing in solutions containing reductants.Three kinds reductants, including thiourea dioxide, vitamin C, sodium hydrosulfite, investigated study L 9 (3 4 ) orthogonal design used find optimal reaction condition each reductant.Results showed that dioxide hydrosulfite should be under pH value 11.0~12.0;and C 6.0~7.0.The 6%, 100˚C, 20min; 20˚C, 20min, respectively.After solutions, strength increased 29.08%, 27.86%, 3.2%, respectively.
