ABSTRACT
Since its inception in 1980, the breeding project for adaptation to drought has been based on crop phenology (escape or matching between biological cycle and water availability), seed yield multilocational trials under stress conditions. For evaluation, bean genotypes were grouped basis of similar growth habits phenology. Selection segregating families according was postponed up until F4 generation subsequent ones, using incomplete block designs. early generations moderate high heretability traits such as cycle, grain (color, size, shine), reaction diseases. Eight improved Durango varieties that are tolerant temporary deficits (Pinto Villa, Pinto Mestizo, Bayacora, Negro Altiplano, Sahuatoba, Durango, Bayo Victoria, Azufrado Namiquipa) have given producers from Mexico’s semi-arid highlands. In 1998 seeds two new Zapata Flor de Mayo 2000) will be increased registered. Their main are: type III indeterminate habits, short fast transition vegetative reproductive phase, rates.
