ABSTRACT
In order to study if banana fields labour exposure pesticides produces some kind of DNA damage, we determine the presence micronuclei in epithelial oral cells working women Guapiles and Siquirres, Costa Rica, as an effect biomarker. We also analyzed other abnormalities nucleus those such broken-egg, karyolysis or kariorrhexis, see there was genotoxicity citotoxicity. The group exposed worked packing bananas plant from different independent farms. control had never done any farming tasks; they did not live fields, neither their husband. got information about life style, medical familial history participants through interview. found significant increment frequency form compared with controls. nuclei showed signs ofcitotoxicity controls, associated intake coffee dental x-rays. These results do rule out at that used are agents capable producing damage DNA, but it seems epithelium is most adequate marker measure it.
