ABSTRACT
To evaluate the incidence of arrhythmia in early postoperative period and to identify its risk factors among pediatric patients following cardiac surgery at King Abdulaziz University Hospital (KAUH), Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, between 2015-2020.Out 1242 patients, a total 821 aged <18 years who underwent were included this retrospective cohort carried out June 2021 KAUH, Arabia. Information retrieved from hospital medical records had patients' demographics, types arrhythmias, hemodynamic stability, electrolyte disturbances, cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), aortic cross-clamp (AXC) durations. Univariate multivariate logistic regression analyses used possible associated with arrhythmia.Of 140 (17.1%) developed postoperatively. The most common arrhythmias junctional ectopic tachycardia (JET, 51.4%), atrioventricular block (27.1%), supraventricular (10%). majority cases occurred on first day postoperatively (79.3%). Patients more prolonged CPB (p=0.0001) AXC (p=0.005) time, electrolytes disturbances (p=0.021), instability than other patients.Postoperative arrhythmia, especially JET, is after surgery. Prolonged bypass, cross-clamping, are for arrhythmias.
