“Turning garbage into luxury”: the materiality in practices of the carnival production

This paper analyzes the organization of carnival production a samba school. Specifically, we investigate effort to balance demand for luxury and scarcity resources. To understand these phenomena, use Schatzki's epistemology practice. is qualitative research that resorts participant observation, in-depth interviews documentary research. The findings revealed practice material reuse incorporated in production. We show evidence between resources occurs through what call understandings, central element creative process. These understandings are produced from interaction actors with set arrangements, which process takes place. also emphasize they can be transformed throughout production, as practitioners seek solutions emerging problems.
