ABSTRACT
Serological evidence of West Nile virus (WNV) infection has been reported in different regions Brazil from equine and human hosts but the had never isolated country. We sought to identify viral etiology encephalitis Espírito Santo state. We performed culture C6/36 cells, molecular detection WNV genome, histopathology immunohistochemistry horse cerebral tissue. We also carried out sequencing, phylogenetic analysis clock.Histopathologic tissue showed injury related was confirmed by immunohistochemistry. The detected reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) brain subsequently cells. full-length genome sequenced showing strain belongs lineage 1a. clock indicated that Brazilian share same common ancestor were circulating US during 2002-2005.Here we report first isolation a with neurologic disease, which clustered into 1a others strains beginning 2000's decade.
