ABSTRACT
To characterize transcripts abundantly expressed in the human pituitary gland general as well to isolate novel specifically this gland, we generated an expression profile of active genes transcribed it. A total 1015 randomly collected 3prime prime or minute sequence tags (ESTs) (gene signatures, GSs) were grouped into 527GS species. The results showed relative levels gland. comprising more than 1% mRNA prolactin, growth hormone and chromogranin B genes. When known categorized, for hormones most actively transcribed, followed by ribosomal proteins, nuclear proteins secretory granule proteins. Through comparison gene with BodyMap database containing profiles from 63 other tissues, obtained 11 which appeared be In addition eight genes, identified three pituitary-specific encode putative proteins: specific factor 1a (PGSF1a), PGSF1b PGSF2. This method is a approach isolation that may have important functions.
