ABSTRACT
The secretion of LH from the anterior pituitary male rats was studied at different periods postnatal development. According to an established classification we used 14 (infantile), 23 (juvenile), 45 (pubertal) and 90 (adult) days old. By using in vitro incubation system, both basal stimulated were same gland. Age-related differences observed secretion, with juvenile pubertal pituitaries showing higher compared infantile adult pituitaries. However, GnRH-induced secretory response significantly than other ages. also primary cultures or In 24 48 h cultures, cells showed a larger GnRH that cells. LH-immunopositive size locations At periphery lobes predominant smaller angular shaped, whereas center gland majority ovoid shaped. pituitary, LH-positive shape size. Furthermore, 10% more On basis these data propose period rat has two populations LH-secreting cells, one function second increased sensitivity morphology atypical cell. results presented support hypothesis is transitional stage
