Maternity Protection at Work and Safety Climate: The Perceptions of Managers and Employees in Three Healthcare Institutions in Switzerland

ABSTRACT
The literature on the application of legal maternity protection measures in workplace reveals that many organizations are failing to develop and maintain an in-house safety climate manages accommodate work pregnancy. This study sought understand managers' employees' perceptions vis-à-vis different ways managing pregnancy healthcare settings. Further, aimed identify pathways towards establishing a makes pregnant employees feel protected able continue their without discrimination or danger health unborn child. We investigated three institutions Switzerland, carrying out 30 interviews with stakeholders involved at analyzing transcripts thematically. Managers same institution can have divergent effects. Elements associated perceiving positive included direct superiors' perceived commitment safety, shared risks, perception adequate levels information, presence occupational unit, formal institutional procedures for supporting employees. Incorporating considering stakeholders' experiences is essential understanding improving institution's women's overall experience work.
