Effects of a Prefabricated Functional Orthodontic Appliance on Children with Class II Division 1 Malocclusion

ABSTRACT
Background: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of a prefabricated functional appliance (Myobrace Ⓡ ) on skeletal, dental, and soft tissue components in children with Class II, division 1 malocclusion.Methods: Thirteen patients malocclusion (9 girls 4 boys; mean age, 8.2±0.9 years at start 9.3±1.0 end treatment) were treated Myobrace for period 12.9±4.0months.Patients instructed use daily hour overnight while sleeping.A control group 10 untreated (3 7 9.0±1.6 10.4±2.1 observation) was included eliminate possible growth effects.The observation this 17.7±11.2months.Lateral cephalograms taken treatment, findings from 41 measurements analyzed using V-Ceph TM program.The standard deviation cephalometric paired independent sample t-tests.Results: The treatment showed significant changes SNB, ANB, maxillary protrusion, ramus height, proclination upper anterior teeth, interincisal angle, overjet, lip protrusion compared group.However, only decrease increase angle significantly higher than group.Conclusion: induced dentoalveolar, changes, resulting reduction anteroposterior discrepancy.
