ABSTRACT
Post-surgical chest tube removal (CTR) is associated with a significant pain and discomfort for patients. Current treatment strategies reducing CTR-associated anxiety are limited partially efficacious. To determine the effects of cold application, inhalation lavender essential oil, their combination on during CTR was investigated. This randomized controlled open-label trial conducted 80 patients in cardiac surgery intensive care unit who had duration at least 24 hours after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Patients were (n=20 each group) to receive aromatherapy application oil inhalation, or none above interventions (control group). The intensity quality evaluated using visual analogue scale, short form modified-McGill questionnaire (SFM-MPQ) Spielberger situational level inventory (STAII) respectively. all groups significantly lower compared control group immediately, 5, 10 15 min CTR. There no statistically difference SFM-MPQ total scores between intervention groups. With respect score, there reduced immediately cold-aromatherapy versus group. present results suggested efficacy post-CABG
