ABSTRACT
Antimicrobial resistance has become a prime global concern. An ability of the microbes to produce enzymes destroy antimicrobial drugs is one well-known mechanisms underlying resistance. 8-Hydroxyquinoline (8HQ) and derivatives were reported exert diverse biological effects such as antimicrobial, antioxidant antineurodegenerative activities. Herein, 8HQ (1), nitroxoline (NQ, 2) 7-Br-8HQ (3) investigated for activity against Enterobacteriaceae including extended spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing carbapenemase-producing strains well effect metal ions. These compounds (1-3) displayed great fifty-eight bacterial isolates Escherichiacoli, Providenciarettgeri Klebsiellapneumoniae, in which NQ (2) exerted highest with MIC50 42.04 μM (8 µg/mL) MBC50 168.28 (32 µg/mL). The MIC values significantly increased presence Cu2+ Fe3+. This finding reveals that could be an effective compound further developed agent combating infections.
