ABSTRACT
Sex differences in sleep begin at a very early age and women report poorer quality have higher risk for insomnia than do men. Sleep may be affected by variation reproductive hormones, stress, depression, aging, life/role transitions, other factors. The menstrual cycle is associated with changes circadian rhythms architecture. Menstruating (even without significant menstrual-related complaints) often greater disturbance during the premenstrual week compared to times of her cycle. In addition these disturbances, severe syndrome more disturbing dreams, sleepiness, fatigue, decreased alertness concentration phase. disturbances are also commonly reported pregnancy increase frequency duration as progresses. precipitous decline hormones unpredictable patterns newborn contribute and/or exacerbate poor daytime sleepiness postpartum period. Insomnia among most common health complaints that perimenopausal women. Women particularly vulnerable developing disorder hormonal change. this review, we present discussion on relevant recent publications across womanâs lifespan, including related menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, menopausal transition.
