ABSTRACT
The resilience of seedlings from four open-pollinated families Swietenia macrophylla to simulated attacks by Hypsipyla grandella was evaluated at the nursery stage determine possibility early selection individuals most resilient and establish sustainable forest plantations in Peruvian Amazon. Significant differences were detected among for diameter (D), sprout length (SL), basal area (BA). coefficient determination genotypic effects moderate (range: 0.248 – 0.457) H (plant height), D, SL, BA, low (< 0.15) plant base height (HB), number sprouts (NR), branches (NB), leaves (NL). genetic correlation traits H, NR, NB, NL ranged 0.228 0.996, indicating that an increase one these can result other. This is important because there BA development with resistant attack. Therefore, phenotypic variation observed suggests as a promising strategy improvement programs, using larger than those used present study, since theoretically samples may contain greater between within families.
