ABSTRACT
Seed dormancy is a trait that promotes the survival of weedy rice (Oryza sativa L.) in seed bank. Weedy displays different level depending on several factors including genetic control. Determining status crucial to understand adaptive mechanism weed agroecosystem especially tropic regions. To investigate degree rice, 66 samples were collected from Selangor fields. The was determined by standard germination test at 7, 14, 21, 42, 49, 56, 63, and 284 days after imbibition. >200d room temperature storage compared. A total 92.4% displayed high upon maturation. rates sampled are divergent, indicating tropical regions has variation dormancy. cumulative rate gradually increased over time reached loss initial >280 dry bimodal distribution pattern, with 25.8% 18.2% showed strong weak dormancy, respectively. This study seeds Malaysia can retain their viability more than 200d once imbibed. enhance survivability agroecosystems.
