Histopathological diagnoses of adnexal masses: which parameters are relevant in preoperative assessment?

ABSTRACT
The aim of the study was to assess which clinical, laboratory and ultrasound characteristics adnexal masses might predict histopathological nature disease.The involved all women treated at Clinic Gynecology Obstetrics Clinical Centre Serbia for tumors between July 1, 2010 December 31, 2011. On admission, detailed anamnestic data were obtained, expert scan performed RMI calculated patients. Data related findings statistically analyzed.The included 540 out 85 had malignant (seven diagnoses), 435 benign diagnoses) 20 borderline tumors. All types more frequent in postmenopausal (p=0.000). Only papillary adenocarcinoma significantly often produced early metastases Ascites is a common finding Krukenberg tumors, granulose cell adenocarcinomas. There significant differences tumor diagnoses regarding levels Ca 125 CEA, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) risk malignancy index (RMI) (p<0.05). No found within group examined markers, ESR as well (p>0.05).In light our results, patient age, menopausal status, blood 125, CEA ESR, RMI, can masses. Unfortunately none parameters accurately determine exact diagnosis tumor.
