ABSTRACT
The authors critically consider the feasibility of elimination soil-transmitted helminthiases as public health problem within framework recently established WHO programme "Neglected tropical diseases". This objective proposed by seems to be rather questionable due practically complete lack use so called sanitary and helmintological approach, which has been successfully effectively utilized in our country control ascariasis trichocephaliasis. weakest link achieving this ambitious goal is almost disregard for helminthology approaches, importance high effectiveness demonstrated processs trichuriasis control. possibility geohelminthiases without these approaches very doubtful.
