ABSTRACT
Abstract As part of a broader effort to develop ground-motion data resources for China in manner consistent with Next Generation Attenuation projects, we database geotechnical soil profiles and shear-wave velocity (VS) logs sites having accelerometers (this is referred as profile [SPD]), then use that site parameters. The information compiled stations within the National Strong Motion Observation Network System (NSMONS) China. This focused on four provinces western (Yunnan, Sichuan, Gansu, Xinjiang), which contribute 871 2023 NSMONS throughout Of sites, SPD provides 678 or 78% total. To SPD, and/or VS are 637 sites. derived from previously unpublished reports assembled here uniform format partially disseminated (only approximate locations provided). remaining 41 have confirmed bedrock conditions at ground surface. Site metadata parameters into database, included supplemental material this article, includes depth first occurrence 0.5 km/s (Z0.5), three time-averaged (VSe, VS20, VS30), classifications based Chinese building seismic design code Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program Provisions. For do not extend 30 m, present region-specific recommendations extrapolating velocities m. but no profiles, procedures estimate earlier can be derived.
