ABSTRACT
Abstract The role of local geology in controlling ground motion has long been acknowledged. Consequently, increasing attention is paid to the assessment geophysical properties soils at seismic stations, which impact station recordings and a series related quantities, particularly those referring hazard estimates. Not same level commonly dedicated installation, point that it generally believed housings shelters containing instruments are no interest, because they can only affect frequencies well above engineering range interest. Using examples from seismometric accelerometric we describe (1) housing, (2) foundation, (3) pillar effects on records. We propose simple working scheme identify existence potential installation-related issues assess frequency fidelity response motion. Our developed mostly ambient noise and, thus, surface waves. hope that, besides parameters start be routinely introduced archives (VS30, soil classes, etc.), maximum reliable frequency, under soil–structure interaction expected, also becomes mandatory information. In our experience, for some installation sites, even less than very few hertz.
