ABSTRACT
This study used an experimental research method, which is a method that aims to understand the causal process by treatment and conducting controlled testing on sample of subjects. uses quantitative methods taking data in form numbers. The material this gear sprocket. A sprocket motor component transmits power from engine rear wheels so can run optimally. was heat treated at 850 ℃ with holding time 20 minutes. variations quenching media are mineral water, dromus coolant, SAE 40 oil. Hardness microstructure tests were carried out for each specimen determine effect different cooling process. results indicate highest hardness value obtained 301 HV immersion water media. lowest 207 oil immersion. Meanwhile, non-treatment 150 HV. In case, there increase about two times compared non-treated specimens. Observation shows grain size specimens looks smaller than models. phenomenon supports idea surface
