ABSTRACT
Axillary lymph-node (ALN) involvement is an important prognostic factor in patients with breast carcinoma. Evaluation of Sentinel Lymph-nodes (SLN) accurate procedure for its assessment the clinically node negative cases. Frozen Section (FSE) more widely used intra operative evaluation SLNs. Our study aimed to assess sensitivity, specificity and accuracy FSE SLN compare positivity other clinico-pathological parameters. All carcinoma cases having SLNs were studied a duration two years compared permanent sections. was also A total 281 evaluated. 88 positive while 92 sections (one false-positive five false-negatives) 94.57%, 99.47% 97.86% respectively. significantly less T1 tumors (17.7%; p-0.005), grade I (17%; p-0.040) triple (15%; p-0.041). In cases, showed lesser additional ALN (11.11%) comparing higher T stage (35.71%). has high sensitivity accuracy. Even though Micro metastasis ITCs are main source false rate, they do not carry much significance. tumors, tumors. axillary questioning their requirement further dissection.
