Analysis of Effect of Answering Reflection Prompts in a Computer Organization Class

ABSTRACT
Abstract This research paper explores whether requiring students to answer reflection prompts immediately before an exam affects their performance. Reflective practice encourages critical thinking and answering can aid in integrating ideas developing a holistic view of the material they are studying. In our study, 365 Computer Organization course answered about module choice (e.g. ARM programming or pipelining). Half first exam, other half second exam. We found that most who performed significantly better than those did not. is significant result because while reflective Science classes discussed literature, quantitative analysis performance improvement has been missing until now. A qualitative responses showed many reported helped them gain conceptual understanding, which characteristic deep learning. given we not advise on why were asking reflect, what hoped would from activity. Our study provides evidence help exams with understanding learning should be considered as strategy for helping think critically material.
