ABSTRACT
Gasification of biomass has the potential to become a relevant technology for sustainable future. However, content tar in gas produced through gasification needs be managed properly order increase reliability technology.Accurate measurement concentrations enables management and improvement.Standardized offline methods require long time produce numerical result from test. This work presents novel colorimetric method assess concentration contained syngas. The uses an apparatus that includes heated thimble filter (to remove particulate), quenching with isopropyl alcohol (IPA), vapor knockout cooling system including final stage fritted glass bubbler/impinger, IPA removal via peristaltic pump controlled by capacitive level sensor, flow metering, colorimeter IPA/tar solution light absorbance measurement, pumping/metering circuit. The is robust fast because it based on continuous measurement. The was compared against protocol standard showing good correlation between average concentration. Results demonstrate capability proposed give real-time gas.
