Deposits of corundum in the region Manhuaçu–Caratinga, eastern Minas Gerais, are described termsof geology, economic potential, mineralogy and chemistry. The alluvial colluvial deposits Indaiá,Sapucaia, Caputira Palmeira found within high grade metamorphic terrains, belonging to Juizde Fora Mantiqueira complexes, cut by pegmatites as well mafic rocks.
