ABSTRACT
The tolerance of plants to waterlogging can be ascertained by identifying the characteristics morphology, anatomy, and physiology plants. As yet little is known about photosynthetic many cultivars maize in Indonesia when waterlogged at various stages growth. This research aimed determine photosynthesis some inundation that occurred different factorial completely randomized block design with two factors three replications was used. first factor consisted nine cultivars, i.e. Bisi 2, Pioneer 21, Gumarang, Bisma, Sukmaraga, Srikandi Kuning 1, Bima 4, 5. second conditions growth vegetative phase (leaved-four stage- – V4 stage), early reproduction (silk - R1 middle (milk stage R3 no as control. During period waterlogging, water level 5 cm maintained for 10 days. results showed interaction effect between almost all variable except stomatal aperture. Ten days affected decreasing chlorophyll content (a, b total), rate, aperture width. sensitive waterlogged. Bisma cultivar not tolerant stress Gumarang stage. It a low rate photosynthesis. At stage, 2 were stress, while not. Therefore recommended planted swampy areas.
