ABSTRACT
Background: The prevalence of diabetes mellitus disease (DM) is growing rapidly across the world, however rate increment considerably high in Arab countries, which increases them risks developing microvascular (e.g., retinopathy, nephropathy, and neuropathy) macrovascular diseases cardiovascular cerebrovascular disease). Better Adherence to medications play important role achieving better health outcomes preventing complications disease. However, there are different factors that might affect adherences. aim study was evaluate predicators level adherence type 2 DM patients Eastern Province, KSA. Methodology: 376 participants were randomly selected from two hospitals Saudi Arabia, towards anti-diabetic drugs measured using General Medication Scale (GMAS). Results: included equal proportion males females, 79% with older than 50 years, 46% an education primary school or lower, 43% monthly income 5000 SAR lower. Among participants, 22% did not have any related complications, 38% on oral medication as well insulin injection for 10% had history hospitalisation due diabetes. Importantly, 37% (138/376) reported partial lower level, only 42% (160/376) adherence. degree also among Random blood glucose (RBG) 200 mg/dl more compared RBG (p-value<0.001). Conclusion: This identified several predictors diabetics although some statistically significant. Educational interventions regarding importance consequences non-adherence could promote population province Arabia.
