ABSTRACT
Background: Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a major health burden in the obstetric population as it is one leading causes maternal and perinatal morbidity mortality.World Health Organization estimates that at least woman dies every seven minutes from complications hypertensive pregnancy.Objective: To assess prevalence induced hypertension associated factors among pregnant women receiving antenatal care service Jimma town public facilities, Southwest Ethiopia. Methods:Health facility based cross-sectional study was carried out March 01-30, 2015.The used total sample size 356 who were proportionally allocated to hospitals centers.Then participants systematically selected each facility.The data collected using pre-tested structured questionnaireadaptedfrom validated questionnaire, content validity checked by experts reliability scaled tools tested cronbach's alpha test( 0.70).Prior analysis entered Epi exported Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.00.Bivariate between dependent independent identify variables candidate multivariable logistic regression.Multivariable regression made obtain odds ratio confidence interval statistical associations its factors.Result: Prevalence 10.3% mothers had hypertension, preeclampsia 23(63.9%)was most common type.This also showed rural residence (Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR)=5.310,95%CI=1.518-18.574),positive family history chronic (AOR=9.90,, Positive (AOR=9.13(2.33-35.78)),kidney diseases (AOR=3.97,95%CI=1.36-11.56)and psychological stress (AOR=5.79,95%CI=1.66-20.25)were statistically significant association with hypertension.
